A Day in the Life of a Fool (Manhã De Carnaval or Morning of Carnival)
Music by Luis Bonfá; Lyrics by Antônio Maria; English text by Carl Sigman (theme of a Portuguese language film)
It became one of the first Bossa Nova compositions to gain popularity outside Brazil. In the U.S., its considered one of the most important Brazilian Jazz/Bossa songs that helped establish the Bossa Nova movement in the late 1950s. In France, the song is also known as “La Chanson d’Orphée.” The lyrics for all foreign texts were written by others, using Bonfá’s original music.
